How did you get your start in PR?
I earned my bachelor’s from University of Colorado Boulder in English Lit and had no clue what to do next. I’ve always loved writing and literary analysis, and I wanted to build these passions into my career. I’ve also dabbled in graphic design for the past decade and wanted to refine those skills. My husband was working as a political journalist and pointed me toward PR. I fell in love and immediately began pursuing my master’s in PR & Marketing from University of Denver. After graduation I started interning at FIG and eventually transitioned to my current role as Account Coordinator.
Favorite thing about living in Colorado?
Although I am an ocean lover at heart, the mountains have an epic beauty that’s hard to beat. My favorite activities? Riding horses (hunter/jumper) whenever I can and hiking with my pups.
Favorite recipe to cook?
Traditionally, I make prime rib for a big family Christmas dinner each year. It’s always a little scary to place a large, expensive cut of meat in the oven and hope it turns out okay. I always hedge my bets by practicing a week or two ahead of time.
Where is your favorite travel destination so far, and one place you really want to visit?
I loved visiting Dubrovnik, Croatia, a perfect blend of architecture and culture set against an idyllic Mediterranean landscape. Next stop, Japan!
What are you reading right now?
I just finished What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours, an excellent book of short stories by Helen Oyoyemi. Now I’m on to The Little Red Chairs by Edna O’Brien. I’m also perpetually rereading anything and everything by Haruki Murakami, one of my absolute favorite writers.
First app or website you check in the morning?
First thing I check every morning is NYTNow, followed by my email and Facebook. My guilty pleasure is Refinery29 for news on the latest beauty goods – I’m a total product junkie.
